Mist Bistro, originally established in a historic hutong courtyard in Beijing, offers an immersive dining experience inspired by the tranquility and mystique of its surroundings. The restaurant’s identity draws from traditional Chinese calligraphy and the poetic imagery of mist—subtle, elegant, and ever-changing.
This brand identity update seeks to preserve its cultural essence while infusing a fresh, modern energy to attract a younger metropolitan customers.
Inspired by Guanzhong Wu’s expressive brushstrokes and rich color palette, the new logo embodies a sense of freedom, authenticity, and casual elegance. By refining the visual language, the project aims to create a cohesive and adaptable identity that bridges heritage with contemporary appeal.
To enhance the menu’s visual hierarchy and organization, a set of ten spot icons was illustrated to capture the expressive beauty of the ink style. Each icon is enclosed within a circular form, symbolizing unity and completeness, concepts deeply rooted in both Chinese and Japanese culture. This design approach maintains visual consistency while reinforcing Mist Bistro’s artistic and cultural identity.
The ten menu categories are structured as follows:
1.Steamed Dishes 2.Teppanyaki 3.Desserts 4.Sushi Rolls 5.Sashimi 6.Grilled Dishes 7.Chef’s Special 8.Sake Appetizers 9.Simmered Dishes 10.Tempura
This icon system provides a clear, intuitive categorization, enhancing the overall dining experience through a refined and cohesive visual language.
